1 DAY Reach Truck Training COURSE OVERVIEW

Handling of Reach truck vehicle is highly regulated by the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1994. The Acts have clearly stated the responsibilities of employers and employees in dealing with this machinery. It is the responsibility of employer is to ensure all employees involved handling these machines is properly trained. Failing which, the companies could be penalized and, to certain extend, the directors of the company could be jailed.

This course is designed to train participants to operate a Reach Truck to the required level of competency in a safe and appropriate manner as prescribed in the Occupational Safety & Health Act 1994 (OSHA, Act 514). The course is catered for experienced operators to learn new skills and techniques. It covers both theoretical and practical instruction in a realistic environment for all types of Reach Trucks.

Reach Trucks are now very widely used in the industries and reach truck related accidents are on the increase day by day. OSHA requires that all workers who operate any kind of equipment must receive training and demonstrate competence in operating the equipment. Statistic of accident in the world relating to reach truck accidents shows that 90% of the accidents are related to Unsafe Acts or Behavioural Safety.

The purpose of this program is to create and awareness among reach truck Operators on causes of accidents with relation to reach truck operation and create a batch of Safe and Competent Reach Truck Drivers and certify them thus creating a safe environment around the reach truck operation.

The training will involve knowledge sharing sessions followed by hands-on practical sessions. At the end of the training participants will be evaluated through written test and evaluation on hands-on practical training.

What is the difference between Certified Forklift Driver & Licensed Forklift Driver

Certified Forklift Driver

This means the individual has completed a safe handling forklift training program and certified as a forklift driver. This certification indicates that the person has been trained in the safe and proper operation of forklift.

A certified forklift driver in Malaysia cannot drive a forklift on public roads. Certified Forklift Driver is meant to be operated only within designated industrial or warehouse areas. To legally drive a forklift on public roads, one would need a Class “F” or “H” tractor license, which covers the operation of tractors and forklifts on roads.

The certification is usually valid for a certain period (often two ~ 3 years), after which the operator needs to undergo refresher training.

Licensed Forklift Driver

In Malaysia, there isn’t a specific “forklift driver’s license” like there is for cars. Instead, forklift operators typically hold a Class “F” or “H” license, which is actually a type of tractor license. To obtain this license, one must pass a test that includes both theoretical and practical components.

In summary, a certified forklift driver has completed specific training and received a certificate, while a licensed forklift driver holds a Class “F” or “H” tractor license.
